Join Antonio Gomes and Phil Collins for a full day hands-on interactive mushroom production workshop. Learn about the benefits of growing gourmet mushrooms for your own diet, and for the health of your soil and eco-system. Phil will explain why we have chosen to grow mushrooms at this farm, and how the mushrooms fit well into a natural eco-system and a farm business plan. Antonio will take you more in-depth and discuss the soil food web and the vital role that fungus plays in the nutrient cycling of our Earth surface. After these lessons you will learn how to inoculate hardwood logs with a variety of mushrooms including shitake, phoenix oyster, blue oyster, reiki, lion’s mane, and turkey tale mushrooms – and then practice as a group activity.
